It’s holiday time here now, and what do women do on holidays? shopping of course..
I’m a girl who doesn’t thrilled by shopping, but when the holidays are in the air, my shopping hormon gets wild.
So what did I buy this time? elctric Coffee and spices grinder. I bought it because I wanted so many time to ground pistachio for pistachio macarons.
I went down to the super market to buy pistachios, they were very expensive and not pealed, so I didn’t want to peal them off and grind them, beacsue it will take me lots of time. Near the pistachios, there were sunflower seeds, so I deciced to buy them and grind them for my macarons. The sunflower seeds were much more cheaper than the pistachios.
So I ground the sunflower seeds:
The grinder that I bought made a good and fine grinding, I was satisfied with my purchase.
I made only few quantity of macarons with only one egg white, because I didn’t know if i’ll succeed with making sun flower seeds macarons… and I had no I idea what the taste will be like…
Yes, it looks like a real macarons, at that point I was waiting ’til the macarons chills so I can taste it. (Once I was trying to make macarons with curcumin, and it looked great but taste bad).
The sunflower seeds taste good and “surprisingly” had a sunflower seeds taste…
So I decided that a jam or confiture will do good with this sunflowers macarons shells, so I drizzle the jam, took pictures with my iphone, and put into the refrigerator.
This sunflower seeds macarons is highly recommended for people with nuts intolerance, and for people who have spices grinder or can buy ground seeds. Another adventage is that this sunflower seeds costs less than almonds or ground almonds. The recipe is the same as any macarons shell recipe, you just put ground seeds instead of the ground almonds. for each one egg white, you should add 37 g of ground seeds.
I was so excited about my new grinder so I went to the “Shuk Ha’carmel”, it’s the main street market of Tel Aviv.
The market was very busy.. lot of people and tourists. I bought pealed pistachio and kashio nuts, it wasn’t cheap, but it was for one time experiment..
so I ground the pistachios and the kashio nuts, the ground kashio nuts look just the same as ground almonds, so I didn’t use it for macarons (yet).
Because it was my first time of making macarons with pistachio, I made a few quantity with one egg white.
I piped the macarons, and the macarons got dry after 6 minutes! Is it beacuse of the weather? or maybe the pistachio tend to get dry faster?
So I put the macarons in the oven, and made a regular buttercream in a food processor, I mixed it with some ground pistachio and add a very tiny drop of food colouring.
and then I took some more pictures and instagram it.. 🙂
