Macarons with home made jam / confiture filling
One of the scents that I really crazy about in the kitchen (After the smell of the brownies in the oven), is the scent of cooking homemade jam, the smell is A M A Z I N G.
Many times in the past that I wanted to make home made jam. I knew it easy to make, but I was afraid to deal with the jars sterilization issue. This time I decided that the jam will stay no more than 6 days in the refrigerator, so no jar sterilization is needed.
I was cooking a jam with the knowing that this jam is going to be filling for the macaons, so I added less sugar, because the macarons shells are already sweet.
As I always do before cooking or baking new recipes, I watch youtube recipe videos, it's easier for me to learn that way insted of reading a written recipes.
I was looking for a short video for home making strawberry jam, and I found this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kaaK0zKE-rg . this guy has great videos, I love watching his vidoes.
So I made the jam with less sugar than needed. I couldn't resist the smell so I ate almost all the jam. Home made jam is so tasty and irresistable.
On the day after, I made new strawberry jam, this time the jam went to my pinkish macarons shells. These delicious macarons went straight to the passover dinner (this cookies are pareve beacuse the jam strawberry has no dairy ingredients).
By the way, The jam that I made was probably confiture, because it contains fruit chunks, who knows.. 🙂
You surely can use prepared jam for your macarons, just make sure it's not too sweet or liquid.
